![]() SMH We ended up leaving and going to AIR ULTRA LOUNGE & BAR and had a blast!!! Where I met 3 other patrons that said the same thing about the infamous bartender at The Layover.ĭIRECT MESSAGE to you Mr. When I requested to speak with the manager, the manager was as equally a jerk as his bartender. Granted, probably not coo to do so, in normal circumstances but had he been "professional" and did his job in the first place, perhaps there wouldn't have been a need for all that. He slapped her hand and gave her a lecture about not reaching over to grab from the bar. The response from the bartender was "NO! I'm a professional." After a little while one of the other ladies with us, went and got a shot of tequila after repeatedly asked for some lime (usually customary with a shot of tequila) homeboy decided to ignore her request so she reached over to the garnishments and took one. Nothing out of the ordinary if the drink is too light. Last night my friends and I attended the hip hop event at The Layover - Music Bar & Lounge when 2 of my friends ordered a Greyhound, they requested for a little more liquor. ![]() If they had negative stars, that would be the perfect rating for this spot. Not a bad thing either, but definitely more self-conscious than the late-twenties and thirties crowd ) We bounced pretty quick and went to Somar, which was definitely more high-energy! Despite it being more well-lit than Layover, people were less self-conscious and were getting their groove on. I came here to dance, dammit! Not very high energy, like I had expected.Īnd I think it was mostly a younger, hipster-y crowd. So the bar was getting pretty full but no one was dancing. I wasn't even bobbing my head on the barstool, with the weird weak-beat stuff he was playing. and before the DJ got into his "amazing" stuff. It was still relatively early in the night, before people got drunk I suppose. I think we were sitting at the bar until 10 or 10:30. I was kinda bummed that I couldn't actually taste jam haha. just a very strong taste, but not sure what. I couldn't figure out if I liked it or not. I tasted my friend's drink, the one with the jam in it, and it tasted different. The bartender was nice enough to spend time giving her recommendations while we hem and hawed with our terrible decision-making abilities. ![]() I can appreciate that they had some interesting signature cocktails. It reminded me of the bars I'd go to in college, which feels like a different lifetime entirely, so you can imagine my disorientation. Not like that's a bad thing, but I guess from reading reviews and the name sounding like a music venue and all that, I just figured it would be bigger, better lit, and cleaner than it actually was. I didn't realize that I had NOT been to a dive bar in a while until I came here. I do intend to go back to get a better feel for the place once I find friends who are more into dive bars. This review is more a reminder for myself than a set-in-stone rating. ![]()
